About this ebook

When a stranger who holds the keys to her identity arrives in town, will the girl everyone knows as Brenda come to terms with her past or run again?

From New York Times and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author Jean Brashear, another story set in beloved Sweetgrass Springs…

All the girl known as Brenda Jones has ever wanted is a home and family, but she's on the run from her past. She works hard and stays to herself, save only for her budding friendship with the equally shy Henry Jansen. Henry wants more than a simple friendship, but he’s convinced she’s too young, too innocent, too sweet. Brenda has a crush on Henry, as well, but she’s underage and terrified of being put back in foster care, where she’s spent most of her life since her mother abandoned her at age eight. She’s been flying under the radar, hiding behind a made-up name while finding a different sort of family and home in the year since she arrived in Sweetgrass Springs—but that’s about to change.

When a stranger who holds the keys to her identity arrives in town and takes a job at Ruby’s Diner, will the girl everyone knows as Brenda come to terms with her past or run again, away from the people and the life she's grown to love?

This was Brenda and Henry's book, but mostly Brenda's. I listened to the Audiobook, and as usual, Eric G. Dove did a stellar job. The slightly different inflections he uses to give each character a voice is amazing. Having listened to some of the other books, I am wowed that I can recognize the characters just based on hearing the narrator I enjoy going back to Sweetgrass Springs and all the people in this town. You can't say that it and its residents are problem free, but it is pretty idyllic. Both Brenda and Henry found a place that accepted them as they were and helped to incorporate them into the Sweetgrass family. We get to learn a lot more about Brenda. When her past collides with her present, not only Henry, but the rest of the town is ready to stands with her. My only wish is that there had been more of a story including Blu after Brenda discovered the truth. Maybe there will be a book featuring Blu somewhere down road. This was a truly sweet story. Romance, a few kisses, and some really happy moments. I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audio book received from the author.

Couldn't finish reading. The format went to full page. Can't read that small of letters on my phone. The other books in my library stayed the same

About the author

New York Times and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author of over 40 novels, including the popular TEXAS HEROES series, a five-time RITA finalist and RT BOOKReviews Career Achievement Award winner, Jean Brashear knows a lot about taking crazy chances. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she’s never been more terrified, she’s never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She’s an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive ‘someday’—take that leap now.
