About this ebook

 A marriage begun in deception...

Feisty Julia Faircloth is used to managing the lives of her eccentric relatives, so when darkly compelling Lord Sebastian Trevarre arrives in Bath and proposes to her shy sister Sarah, she switches places with the bride to save her from a shockingly carnal wedding night.

Against his better judgment, Sebastian consummates his accidental marriage to the most provoking, appealing woman he's ever known...and passions smolder as they continue to share a bed in his neglected yet enchanting estate on the coast of Cornwall. Life there is turbulent, not least because Sebastian keeps many secrets. Will his reckless pursuits succeed in restoring his fortune...or cost him the lady who holds his heart?

Step back in time to magical 1798 Cornwall, England, with Julia and Sebastian - and reunite with Andre and Devon Raveneau, as Andre discovers that his life and Sebastian's are inextricably linked.

Rakes & Rebels: The Raveneau Family series:

1 - SILVER STORM (André & Devon)

2 - HER HUSBAND, THE RAKE: a sequel novella (André & Devon)

3 - SMUGGLER'S MOON (Sebastian & Julia)

5 - SURRENDER THE STARS (Ryan & Lindsay)

I liked this book. I thought it had the potential to be great when I read the description. However, in my opinion, it ended up missing something.. I do wish Julia wouldn't have just sort of weirdly but politely accepted the venture that Sebastian got himself into. Maybe I was expecting a bit more drama in the face of his stubborn attitude. Also, contrary to the way she was portrayed in the beginning (the strong, managing one, who always has a logical answer for the family's problems), it was like she always had her head in the clouds after the two married; like she was one of those fragile, sensitive ladies who never developed common sense. I was looking for any hint of logic, just as I was waiting for her to lose the sweet, polite facade and grow a little more of a spine. Sigh. Despite the long list of irritations though, it really was a fair read. The descriptions were beautiful and the romance was magical, with a bit of a side mystery/adventure to boot.

Cynthia's books are so good that they should be made into movies. AWESOME! Can't seem to get enough of her books.

About the author

My career as a novelist began when I was twenty-three, with a phone call from New York announcing that CAROLINE would be published by Ballantine Books. Can you imagine my excitement? I went on to write 12 more bestselling historical romances set in Colonial America, Regency England & America, Medieval England & France, and the American West.

My novels have won many awards over the years, but what means most are readers' messages like this one: "When I read your books, I can't wait to turn the page, but never want the story to end." It's a thrill to have all my novels available, including my two newest, TEMPEST (The Raveneau Novels, Book 4) and SMUGGLER’S MOON (The Raveneaus in Cornwall, Book 1).

Today I live in northern California with my husband, Alvaro, in a 1930's Spanish cottage. When we aren't riding our tandem road bike or traveling in our Airstream, I love spending time with family, especially my two young grandsons.
