    Reading a new Jean Brashear novel is like having a party for yourself ~ nothing to distract but the gift of pleasurable hours to indulge.

    Texas Heartthrob is a wonderfully moving story about Liam Sullivan, who is, first and foremost a warrior gentleman in the truest sense and second, a magnificent looking movie star trying to find peace after a personal tragedy. To get away from the chaos surrounding his public life in LA, he has changed his appearance to fool the press, and begins the journey home to visit his family in Texas.

    In North Carolina he comes across a woman destitute and struggling to reach her place in the woods. Finding her passed out along the side of the road, he stops to render aid. Although torn about getting involved with a stranger, when he needs nothing more than a respite from his tortuous feelings, he finds he cannot leave her to fend for herself, no matter what he's going through.

    Raina Donovan has her own secrets and pride won't allow her to accept help from anyone. The journey these two incredible people begin together is poignant, breathtaking and heartwarming.

    From the minute I began reading, I could not put this book down. Ms. Brashear's grasp of human emotions creates characters rich in their humanity, flaws and all. I'm so happy to see that Rafe and Alex, Liam's brothers will have their own stories. I cannot wait!

    TEXAS HEARTTHROB in the TexasHeroes Lone.Star Lovers series by Jean Brashear. Liam, a big name, good looking actor, wanting to reexamine his life. Missing his two older brothers, and family, he heads to the hills. Meeting Raina, haunted, and too little kindness in her world. Time and experience had taught her to ask for nothing. While Liam had women thrown at him, yet, this is the one he wanted to cuddle and protect. Could these two, one that everything, to one that ask for nothing, could they find a way for love. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

    I love this author and was excited to read it, especially after see the couple on the front of the book cover, and after reading reading the blurb. But....I never thought the whole story would be this tragic. It was so full of angst, right up until the very end. It just became too much for me. All the sadness, pain, and anguish was not what I was looking for in a book.

    I read to relax, maybe even have a few laughs along the way. I do like mischievous people, sassy people, and even people willing to stand up and fight for what they want. IMO- Rainia was nothing like this. She'd given up on life as a whole, and rejected anyone who was willing to give her a hand up, and then shouted foul when they tried to help her better herself. Liam was a total Prince of men. He never gave up when things turned worse. Why? I have no idea. It would have been much easier to walk away, except he'd done that once and it cost a life. Feeling guilty about the life that was lost before this, maybe. But I grew up in a house full of addicts, and I can tell you from fist hand knowledge....that you cannot help someone, if they aren't willing to help themselves. They have to want it! They have to hit bottom before they will even ask for help, and sometimes that still won't happen.
