About this ebook

Sasha and Connelly are back in Improper Influence, a gripping legal thriller by USA TODAY Bestselling Author Melissa F. Miller.

Even Sasha's most daunting cases to date haven't prepared her for her current challenge: finding a wedding reception venue that her mother and Connelly can agree on.

Wedding planning woes become the least of her worries, though, when Bodhi King, a forensic pathologist for the City of Pittsburgh, comes to her for help. Young women across the city are dying, and he suspects their deaths are connected. After he voices his suspicions, he becomes a target. Bodhi needs Sasha and Connelly’s assistance to unearth the truth before it's buried along with more victims—and him, if whoever's trying to silence him succeeds.

The trail is long and dirty, leading to political influence peddlers, backroom deals, and the biggest law firm in town. But Sasha and Bodhi won’t stop until they free the city from the grip of corruption—whatever the cost.

I read this as a stand-alone without having previously read the other books in the series. There were very few references to "the past"; though, obviously, there was a backstory as to how the characters knew each other. It was an easy read. I was immediately interested. I enjoyed the investigation. I was pleased with the progression of the story and with the ending. It was just a good book. I do plan to go back & try to read the other Sasha books, too!

The characters are likable and the novel has all the hallmarks of a classic legal thriller but some how with all the right ingredients to make a great novel this book falls short. It's missing that true whodunit aspect to any mystery. You guess the whole plot line by chapter 4 and then stick around because character development was interesting. Hopefully the rest of the books in the series have more depth than this one.

I am disappointed that I cannot buy the book for myself, but must also purchase it for someone else. I will not buy any more books by Melissa Miller because It is not good business to force one to buy two of the same books, or purchase book 5 for someone who has not read any of the previous ones. AND I will not buy two for myself just to read one !

About the author

USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller is a former attorney who traded the practice of law for the art of telling stories.

As a lawyer, she clerked for a federal judge; practiced in the offices of major international law firms; and ran a two-person law firm with her lawyer husband.
