˃˃˃ Q & A from Margaret Daley
Why did you pick writing about the bayou country in Louisiana?
I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. My stepfather was Cajun, and I loved to hear stories about his childhood. That part of the United States is unique and fascinating.
Why did you title your series Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations?
In our society there are so many women who have gone through trials and tribulations and come out stronger because of them. They are good examples for others. They care about others and make a strong, firm stand for their beliefs.

About the author

Margaret has been writing for over 35 years. She started writing in the late 1970s because she wanted to see if she could put a whole story down on paper. That book is still in the drawer and will never see the light of day. But she was able to finish a book, which was her goal.
She decided after that to get some help, and joined a writers' roundtable where she met once a week with some fellow writers who went over each other's work. She sold her first book in the early 1980s and has been selling ever since. She loves to tell a story. When she was a little girl she made up stories while playing with her dolls. On long trips with her family she would weave a story about the surrounding countryside. From those early beginnings grew a love of entertaining people with a story. She has sold nearly 5 million books worldwide with over 90 books.
When she went away to college, she met her husband, Mike, to whom she has been married for over 40 years. He is her support and her best friend. She has always felt she was the luckiest woman the day she bumped into him on campus.
When they married, they moved to Tulsa, where she finished her degree in special education and began teaching. She loved teaching and working with students with special needs. They helped her remember what is important in life. She also participated in the Special Olympics as a coach with her students and has attended the State Games in May for years. Recently she retired from teaching to write full-time.
Besides teaching and writing, she is also a mother of one. Her son, Shaun, loves animals and there have been times they could have their own zoo at the house. The most interesting pet Shaun had is a leopard tortoise, which could outlive him. She has joked that his children will be inheriting a tortoise. He is married with four daughters.
When she isn't working, she loves to read, travel, and go to lunch and a movie with a friend. She has been to many countries in the world and loves to meet new people. Her favorite place is Tahiti -- Bora Bora. It is as beautiful as all the pictures portray it.
In her travels she has found herself in some interesting situations. Once, in London, she got caught in the middle of a protest that later turned into a riot over poll taxes. In the rain forest of Costa Rica, she was covered from head to toe in mud and ruined a perfectly good outfit. She should have remembered it was going to be wet since it was called a rain forest. In Rio, she and a friend were left with no means to get back to the hotel on the other side of the city. Neither Margaret nor her companion spoke Portuguese and there wasn't a cab in sight. Thankfully one finally pulled up to the curb at the museum because she couldn't see herself hiking across Rio to get back to the hotel at night.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2015I love a good mystery with action and suspense, top it off with a inspirational theme, a little romance and a strong heroine and it's a book I can't put down. Deadly Countdown had all of these qualities and once I started it I couldn't put it down. Remy a cop on leave, is back home to recover. Home is where his childhood friend lives-Allie a widow whom is being stalked. Located in the swamp land and plenty of action, and an intriguing plot I recommend Deadly Countdown.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2015I really enjoyed this book. It was a great read. I liked the pace of the book. Too often with romance suspense novels there is too much "fluff" and I just wish they'd get back to the plot and action. The balance in this book was just right. I liked the characters and got to know them without having to read pages on end of their thoughts and lengthy accounts of their doings and history. I liked that Allie was strong but not unrealistically so. She was strong in the way the author had intended her to be and I think that made it easier to relate to her. Thank you Margaret for a clean and exciting novel with plenty of action and suspense with even a mild dose of faith!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2019I am totally intrigued by suspense novels set in bayou country—with its spicy Cajun cuisine, stealthy alligators, and stagnant swamps! Remy Broussard, an injured police officer who returns to small town Port David, is everything good heroes are made of—handsome, gallant, and courageous. Allie is sweet and kindhearted, but just a tad naive...at first. The chemistry between the two is deeply palpable and that first kiss? Ooh lala! But a stalker stands between them and a HEA, and must be caught!
The stalker twist caught me by surprise, but I figured out who-dun-it about halfway through the book. Despite that I enjoyed this quick, light read and highly recommend it for those times when you don't want to delve in a deep, lengthy, challenging book for whatever reason.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2019Another awesome book by Margaret Daley. Such a great writer. So much suspense and drama.
Who is killing men because they are connected to Allie. Remy is determined to find out and keep his friend safe as she is being stalked. The killer is very crafty and known to all of them in the small town, but he is hiding well.
I recommend this book and any of this writer's books to all who like a god clean mystery, suspense, friendship and happy ever after.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good suspense
I loved this book as it has it all for me. Like dark crime, great small town characters and romance, a wonderful combination with a great plot the source going back many years. I can easily recommend it, no bad language no open bedroom doors.
